Welcome to the site!

Eh, my opinion is that if it don't look like the original, it's probably not going to work like the original either. Certainly don't want to be hoovering unfiltered air into the engine, and a missing cap will reduce the effectiveness of the PCV system too.

Not sure how the 4.9Ls were done, recalling my 5.0L as having just the one port for the tubing to the manifold with no caps or extra vents.

At any rate, depending on your situation, would either get the correct part ready to drop in with my personal preference being to stick with Motorcraft until there's a good reason not to, such as parts unavailability - or to find something to securely block / cap that open port with my concern here being if the manufacturer can't even get a needed cap put on then what other problems could there be with that valve?

If the new PCV valve did not come with a cap for the top port, find something to cap it with, or exchange it for one that does. Leaving it open will create a vacuum leak.

You might be able to pop out the cap and install it on your new valve. Otherwise, I would just return it and get an OEM Motorcraft.

Problem fixed! I just put the old cap from my Motorcraft PVC on the Duralast PVC valve I bought. It works great and sounds like the way it should be!

Pretty sure the PVC valves come with caps. I could have possibly dropped it when I opened the new one up.

Thanks!
