Default Pulley problem, need help

I have a 1995 f150, 5.0 motor. WHen the ac is off, one of the pulleys lets out a hissing sound and the pulley kinda turns then stops and it keeps doing that, but when i turn the ac on the pulley turns like it should and the hissing sound goes away. Anyone know what this could be?

would help if you had a video but my best guess would be that your bearing inside the pulley clutch is going out. or possibly slightly bent somehow.

the AC unit is 170-315 in my area from a local parts store

im not sure if you can buy a kit to fix the clutch or what. i dont see why you couldn't but you may have to go without it or pay the 170+ for a new one.

we had a ford taurus that had the clutch on the ac completely lock up so we had to remove the belt and limp it home. from that experience we were quoted at around 80 bucks for a junkyard one. but since the car was junk anyway we just put a eliminator pulley on it so we didn't need a new belt.

Advance auto sells a AC compressor replacement pulley. Just remove your ac and install this pulley and use the same size belt..
