Problems starting
Hey, so sometime when I start my truck it will turn over and all, but the the truck will shake and the engine will die out. I usually have to give it a little gas in order to revive it. It's not a major problem, I'd just like to know what it is. I was thinking my fuel filter is bad and it doesnt get enough gas to the engine on time. Any ideas? Thanks
RamblinWilly's Commandments:
1. Get a Haynes manual.
2. Retrieve codes.
3. Seafoam procedure.
4. Basic Maintenance.
First, know where your at with the basic stuff. When was the last time plugs, wires, fuel filter, pcv, air filter, cap, rotor etc. were changed? If they haven't been changed in a while, change them. Then do the seafoam procedure. You want try and start from ground zero.
If you still have problems, then start diagnosing by retrieving the codes and testing the various sensors and fuel delivery components. The Haynes will tell you how to test most of the sensors with a cheap hand held multi meter. There may be other better manuals out there but I use the Haynes. It's invaluable for troubleshooting.
If you still have issues, post the trouble codes and I'm sure someone here will be able to help.
