powersteering quick question.
Is the line that hoops down through the crossmember(like a cooling area) high pressure or the low pressure side?
The low pressure side is the one with the hose that clamps to the pump, the high pressure screws in.
I think the low pressure has the cooler. |
OK so my screw in line is the one that leaks but it also wraps around in the crossmember
That's the low.
this is the low pressure side/return line-cooler. it screws into the steering box on one end and then hose clamps to a rubber hose on the other, and the rubber hose runs back to the power steering reservoir/pump.http://i54.tinypic.com/219uhjs.jpg

Yup, that's it there. My new one comes in tomorrow morning. Since the hoops and winding makes sort of a cooling system, would it affect the cooling if I painted it?
nope.you'll be fine painting it.
Now that I'm replacing this I'm really considering replacing the pump and box...
if you've got the funds have at it. i would try to find a used pump from a salvage yard with low miles on it before i bought a rejunk(reman.) one.

Wondering how much better it would work if you get a universal power steering cooler and attach them to the line on the cross member.
