88 f150 4.9

Installed a rebuilt power steering pump from advance auto. Now I know they have the best quality parts out there (lol).

But when I turn the pulley by hand it moves back and forth just a little. Like maybe an eight of an inch. And it's got quite a bit of resistance when you turn it by hand.

However, it works fine. Just don't want to have to deal with future problems from the pump putting such a drag on the belt

I guess my question is, is this normal?

A small amount of play is normal on them, same with trying to turn them by hand compared to different steering pumps.

I had mine out to put a seal kit in, and it felt the same way. Factory '96 pump as far as I can tell. Put new seals in and put it back together... it's still doing fine 2 months later.
