Default Power door lock question

My 91 F150 has power door locks, but they don't work. The locks function manually on both doors, from inside and out, but not with the switch. I replaced the circuit breaker, but no luck.

Considering it's both doors, is there a common issue with the switch on these, or is it more probable that both actuators are bad?

Default easy test/fix

I had a similar problem on my 96 f150. The lock activators worked, all the linkages were free, so I started at the top.

I dis-assembled the switch at the door down to the bare copper contacts. I saw that they were very oxidized, covered in green crud, so with 800 grit sandpaper i cleaned off all the contacts, and things worked fine ever since.

Excellent! Can you pull the switch plates out of the inner door skin, or do you have to pull the skin to get to them?

Thanks!

Nevermind the last question - I just took everything apart and took a look.

I did as you said on both switches, and no change. The wiring (inside of the door in general) doesn't look like it's ever been touched, so I don't think something was rewired in the past or anything.

Do you think it could be the actuators? Is there a way to test them before spending the time and money?

Can't save you time, perhaps money. Have to pull door panel to gain access to one actuator. Test for power and ground. If good then actuator is bad. If power or ground not available, wiring issue. repair accordingly.

Makes sense... I'll give that a try.

Thanks!

did you ever figure this out? Where is the circuit breaker for the pwr locks? in the fuse box? Neither of my door locks are working, no audible click when pressing either in any direction. Would like to have them work, its a PITA to lean over and manually unlock the passenger door.
