Possible Trans mod?
Alright so im new to this forum i have been with the nloc bunch since apirl and more often than not my posts go unnoticed....so here i am
I have a 1993 Svt lightning with 190,000 miles on it 140,000 of which have been with a powerdyne supercharger. soon to come a complete exhaust
Now down to my question, i was told last summer i was told that there is a red wire comming off the transmission (e40d) and if this wire was on a switched when the switch is in the off postion it turns off the electronic shift module giving extremely hard shifts perfect for the track or at a red light. I didnt think anything of it when this guy told me (mainly cause he was a dodge guy) but then the fuse for that wire blew and i saw what he was talking about (the fuse that blew was on the same circuit as the odometer), can anyone tell me if i did this would it hurt my transmission?.......sorry if it doesnt make sense.

That is a trick to get the dodges to shift harder, it only worked on some trans, and the others had the options for a shift kit.
I'm not sure if its the same with ford though. I would look into getting a legitimate shift kit, because that way you know nothing will get messed up.
Welcome to the site!

Don't let it shift that hard all the time. That, if I am not mistaken, is the computer wire. The computer needs to know what speed the tranny is going to shift it properly. If you want to shift harder get a good programmer and do it with that, especially if the tranny already has a shift kit in it.
well yea the only time it would be switched off is when im gonna launch it, and as far as a programer im pretty sure the best thing for is tweecer i have not heard of many other programers that are worth while other than tweecer.
