Default possible fuel pump problem

So I got another question about my truck. Its an 88 F150 with 351w. A couple weeks ago I drove it two minutes from my house and got $20 in gas. I went to start it up and it wasn't getting any gas so gave it a couple minutes and tried a couple times giving it some gas and it started up. The rest of the day I had no issues. The next morning I started it up again and let it run for a few because it was cold. I drove into a neighbors drive to turn around and when backing out it died again. I did the same as the day before. It ran fine. Does this sound like the fuel pump or is there something else possibly I'm missing?

Your going to want to get a fuel pressure test gauge, (which you can borrow from the auto parts store) and check your fuel pressure on the rail at the schrader valve. There are several pressure tests that can be done, engine run pressure and bleed down pressure are 2 that come to mind. The pressure limits for your engine are in my manual at home. Get your engine run and let us know what you came up with. Also, there is a fuel pressure regulator, you can check its integrity by pulling its vacuum line off at the vacuum tree and checking for the presence of raw fuel which would indicate a broken internal diaphragm.

You also should interrogate your PCM and look for possible fault codes there as well, which may be present even though you have no CEL.

Thanks for the advice. Ill try the fuel filter first and go from there. Ive had the truck for a couple months now but I haven't been able to do much with it. Gonna start a rebuild/ restroration thread soon and get on it a little more.
