Pcv valve help
just wanting to do some maintenance on my truck and going to do my pcv valve i got off rock auto and it came in but there’s a rattle when i shake it i’ve read on it and it says it’s both fine and not good so i just need some confirmation
btw here’s a 5% off from rock auto:

Always have gone by rattling is fine, no rattling is stuck.
These are essentially a lightly-loaded check valve, so blowing in the expected flow direction towards the intake manifold should allow the air through, while blowing in the opposite direction towards the valve cover should be near impossible.

Same here, rattling PCV valve means it is good
You guys know about the piece of paper test for the PCV system, right?
For that test, you remove the other side valve cover vent tube
Hold a small piece of paper close to the hole in the valve cover with the engine running
It should be sucked to the valve cover hole if the PCV (system) has enough flow
You can play with altitude compensation using the PCV orifice size on carbureted vehicles
I ran two PCV valves on an old 65 289 I put into a Fox body and it passed 1980 I/M specs
Have fun
