PCV help
Truck info: 1993 F150 5.8L
I noticed that the breather filter in the air box had oil on it, and I was told to replace the PCV valve. I had just replaced both a year ago. I pulled the old valve out, and the bottom of it looked like it was covered in a light brown / tan, muddy looking liquid. Is that normal? What might have caused it to fail so quick?
Also, is the top of the valve supposed to be plugged / capped?

The pcv valve should connect to a short hose that goes into the upper intake right above where the pcv is located. Also, from my experience when I first bought the truck, it was a sludge monster, so I had to take the valve covers off and clean all of the sludge out so that the crankcase ventilation would work as it should instead of having oil all in the air filter box. If you don't see that short hose, you'll have to buy a short piece of hose to connect it.
