Paint Recall 1990 F150 Ext. Cab
My 'Old Blue' has seen lots of Texas weather. The paint has oxidized off after the clear coat was first destroyed, presumably by UV light. It is a right mess, but I she and I get along well.
My BIL a retired auto industry person recently visited and told me that Ford had a recall for trucks during the period mine was made. His recollection was that Ford used a paint and/or clear coat that was defective. He recalled that the supplier was DuPont, but I don't know this for certain.
I'd like to know 1) if this recall exists (or existed), 2) the paint supplier, 3) if the recall is still valid, and 4) how I can find out my status if the recall still stands.
TIA

My fathers 86 got repainted again for free back in 95. I told him to go to the dealer and ask about it. However, your truck is now 25 yrs old. I don't think there's a chance in hell they'll do anything for you. You could always go to a dealer and ask about it though.

Safety recalls are only valid for 10 years. Paint is not a safety related item. Sorry...SOL!

Are there any limitations on my right to have a recalled vehicle remedied at no charge?
Yes. There is a limitation based on the age of the vehicle. In order to be eligible for a free remedy, the vehicle cannot be more than 10 years old on the date the defect or noncompliance is determined. Under the law, the age of the vehicle is calculated from the date of sale to the first purchaser.
