Default P0171 and P0174 codes

Just wanted to get the 9th gen guys opinion on this.

My truck recently threw the cel and those 2 codes came up. I searched the codes and found several threads to read. I posted in one of them, that happened to be in the 11th gen section, and was told to clean the maf sensor and look for vacuum leaks as they were likely causes for the codes. When I went to check/clean the maf sensor, I found that my oil fill cap was not on the valve cover, but was instead sitting on top of the engine. I recently had my oil changed and I suppose the forgot to put it back on when they were done. I put the fill cap back on and cleared the codes. I have driven the truck over 100 miles since and the cel has not come back on.

Do you guys think that leaving the oil fill cap off could be the cause for the cel and the resulting codes? When I asked, in the other thread, they said it would not cause the cel and codes, but it seems to me that it may have been the cause.

Thanks!

I wouldn't worry about it unless they pop again. Those are "lean" condition codes and could be caused by several things...including the one's that were given to you.

Usally when you have both banks throw a code it is the MAF or a vacuum leak not likely that the oil cap caused it.

I will keep an eye out for the cel to reappear, but so far it hasn't. All I have done is put the oil cap back on the valve cover. If the cel stays off, it seems to be ahelluva coincidence that the cel came on when the cap was off and hasn't reappeared once the cap was replaced.

Thanks for the responses.
