Default Overdrive Light flashing

I have a '96 F150 302 Reg cab, Long box.

I was towing a van and while towing the overdrive light on the shifter started blinking. Overdrive did not disengage and after 10 min or so the light stopped blinking. I had never had an issue towing before but, ever since that issue once and a while the light will blink again. Again no problems noticed, driving seems to be fine.

Curious if anyone might have some incite to why the light does this?

check fuses, not sure about your truck but i read about 99 explorer that had this problem and his Over drive fuse was gone.

Welcome to the board.

The O/D light will blink if there is a problem with the transmission.
You should be able to have the codes read, not sure how, but you can run a search here and you should find a post that tells you how.

Usually a blinking OD light means there is a problem with the tranny. I believe '96 is an OBD II system. If you have an Autozone around, they can run a scan on your truck for free.
