Default Original Radio Problems

Sup guys. I've got a little issue with my radio. Truck is an 88 Inline 6 with an auto if that makes a difference. Every time I let the truck sit longer than maybe 2 hours the radio presets reset and it goes to 600 AM. Also I'll have the radio on a channel I'm listening to and then while I'm driving it just goes to static then back to 600 AM. Theres also times where the radio will go straight static then I'll just smack the dash and then it'll go back to 600 AM. To me it sounds like a ground or a power issue. But it shouldn't just reset like that if its just sitting. Just looking for ideas on what it could be. There's a good chance I'm just going to get a nicer aftermarket one anyhow.

Dont know what it might be... theres a memory wire that keeps the presets when you turn the truck off.. if this has a problem youll loose your settings... as well as grounds... but its from 1988... it has served its time...

you be happier with your upgrade... time to put the old one out to pasture...

Would you happen to know where that memory wire runs to or what color it is? I can check for shorts and damaged wires if possible. The truck already did enough damage to me yesterday. I fell outta the bed and the tailpipe caught my shin. One trip to the hospital later and some stitches and 7 staples. Hehe
