opening a hood that hasnt been opened in a while
is there any tricks to opening a hood that is stuck shut. it is a 95 f150 parts truck so dont care if i brake anything as long as its not the hood. i pull the handle inside the cab and usually there would be like a pop sound when it releases but not this. i think it might be loose some but the latch behind the grill wont move more than a 1/2 inch or so and it starts to bend. ive hit it and pushed on it but nothing. it opens up in the back passenger corner like it is unbloted or something but i cant get it no further than that.
Spray some lubricant on the latch through the grill. Have someone wiggle the hood up and down while you pull on the handle in the cab. If it still won't budge, use a pair of pliers to grab the cable behind the handle.
facing the truck from the front, look on the right side of the latch assembly behind the grille. there should be a metal shroud with the latch cable running into it. stick your finger up behind that shroud (watch for spiders) a little fishing around will find the latch arm and tell you if the cable is still attached. you can manually manipulate the latch to pop the hood (is it is not all rusted up)
so if that doesn't work, then hit it up with a bunch of penetrating oil and see if that frees it up

i got it. i pulled the latch in the cab as far as it would go put vise grips on it so it wouldnt slide back in sparyed some pb blaster in the latch by the grill and hit the handle a couyple times with a hammer and it opned right up. works good now. now i have to figure out how to open the tailgate and pass door. the tailgate opens on one side and i sprayed the other some and beat on it but it wont open. the pass door acts like it is locked but it isnt. in push the outside lathch it goes in and moves a little and it wont open no matter how much you shake.
