Only half a tank
My son-in-law put a new fuel pump assembly in my 1994 ford f150 xlt with a 5.0 efi fuel pump works great but my gas gauge want go below a half a tank at all he did have to cut the factory fuel pump plug off the factory haress and wire the one that came with the new fuel pump assembly on to my factory haress could one of the wires be hooked up wrong which is why i only have access to half to full fuel pump works great that why i'm asking for help think you and God Bless
Welcome to the site!
Off hand, if the gauge works from full down to half, not so sure about a wiring problem as much as a faulty transducer or perhaps the float having a hitch in its travel path and getting hung up.
When you reach half-gauge reading, how much fuel does it take to then fill-up relative to your tank size, reaching for a possibility that the sending unit is ranged for another tank size?

Time to take the pump back out
While it is out, plug it back in and test the fuel gauge operation by moving the float back and forth
I have seen heavy floats (not your problem)
I have seen bent float arms contacting the sock on the way down (strainer)
I also doubt any wiring issues if the gauge works at all

Thats what i was thinking is that i'm going to have see if my son-in-law will pull the front fuel pump out again so we can check to see if some thing is wrong with the float aleast i have a life time warranty with it through Autozone i did forget to mention that my son-in-law did put a new fuel pressure regulator in think you and God Vless you one in all
