One more question
Either I'm short or my seat is worn out, any recommendation can I still purchase a seat for a 1987 or can I swap with a newer truck.

Check with some local upholstery shops.
They may be able to "re-stuff" the seats
with new foam.

I could be wrong but I dont think the seat for your model changed until 96. it may be cheaper to replace than fix
