old ford down for the count!!
i was having an issue with getting the engine over the mounts cause i was lifting by those cause i had the head off already. got it out with the fan still atached. will be swaping to e fans and maybe get a little bigger radiator if i can.
If you really wanted to go with the 5.8 engine you can get the computer out of a 250 or 350 with the 5 speed. You might even want to keep the heavier 5 speed found in these. For rebuilding the I-6 boring it should be a given and since you had hydrolocked it and bent rods you should double check and make sure that you did not pull any threads out of the head bolts.

yea sure there is....the aluminum head is 10Gs and NOT for street use as it has NO water jacketing....mostly used for strip use...
teh Aussie parts do NOT interchange with american stuff...the Aussie blocks are wider...
the head he has is the head he's stuck with...
they did pattern a couple crossflow heads but those are in very short order and I believe they only made a dozen of these...
FrenchtownFlyer at FordSix.com was an engineer for Ford and has alot of info ont he stack U-flow head as well as the crossflow unit...

does anyone know where i can get a set of connecting rods cause summit racing doesnt have any, the machine shop wants 1400$ to do just the bottom end and bore the engine out cause i got the head redone in april but this still seams high. the other one i called wants 900$ to just rebuild but thats just an estamate with out looking up parts like the one shop that is listed above. but yeah i have searched the internet and cannot seem to find much for a connecting rod except for ebay but it says the diamater of the crank bearing cant be gurranteed for all of them to be the same.
call around....try Eagle....
FYI 240 rods will work but they are longer...
even 900 for the bottom end is high
degrease block....35.00
flux....35.00
bore 85.00 w/plates 125.00
turn crank 85.00
rebuilt kit with pistons....200.00
um...no where near 900.00 but thats me putting it together...

yeah im going to call the places back and see how much for them to just machine the stuff for, then just have them get me the right parts and i will just put everything together myself. ive done it in shop class in high school and its not that hard.
well here are the pictures of the damage. the piston is shot cause it broke from the rod hitting it and the corner of the cylinder wall is chipped. i dont know what i want to do. im just going to take and get a new rod and piston and put it back in. i like the straight six cause it has been good to me the past 2 years. i just got a new job that pays good in april and have been thinking about getting a new truck but i dont know the way the econemy is i would like to just save up. would this last long if i just do the piston switch? if i can get til spring with the truck and have more money saved up to put down on a new truck would be good i think, i would go to dealership now but its not worth anything. if i have it running i can use the trade in as a down payment too. i hate to see the straight six go but you have to make sacrifices.
