Default Oil Coooler

I bought a 96 351 with an oil cooler that looks like the one below. Since I've never had one with the cooler I'm not sure how it hooks up. Does oil pump through this to a secondary radiator or is coolant pumped through this, if so how is this plumbed to the cooling system? Thanks for your help.

The price of that hose is why someone abandoned the cooler (which isn't necessary - it's just another potential leak point). To delete the cooler, simply unscrew the center tube, and install an FL-1A filter instead of the FL-820S used with the cooler. Read this caption & its links:
