Default Is This Normal?

I have a 95 I6/5spd that is currently jacked up and I'm in the proces of putting on all new ujoints, bearings/races, ball joints, hubs/rotors on the front. I pretty much got it all wrapped up last night but I noticed something that I'm not sure about. Before putting the wheels and tires on, I turned the steering wheel to the left and right to make sure everything was working fine and as I turned the wheel near full lock, a bunch of powersteering fluid sprayed up from the fill cap on the powersteering pump. I'm not sure if this had something to do with the truck being turned off or what. I hope this isn't a sign of a bad powersteering pump! I've put $500 into this truck and haven't gotten to drive it yet! Does anybody have an answer to this?

Sometimes there is a little back pressure, sometimes this happens when the fluid is not being circulated and fills the reservoir.

Thanks guys. I was worried for a minute. I'll keep an eye on it when I start driving it.
