Default Non Erasable Codes

Just curious if anyone else gets a couple codes that never leave, mine are 542 Canister Purge and 565 Secondary Fuel Pump. Whenever I'm doing work on the truck that requires a computer scan these two codes are always present, they cannot be removed with a reset by code reader or battery cable removal.

Codes indicate faults. If the fault is present, the code will set. Yes, you can erase it, but it resets instantly. Fix the problem.

Don't pick a word or part name out of a code definition; read & understand the COMPLETE definition (and post it for each code). This caption contains the Ford list for these trucks:

No I've seen posts before where other folks will get one or the other of these codes along with the actual code causing the issue. I am familiar with resetting the computer and can't see how they would set again without a startup but stranger things have happened. I will probably pull the computer this winter and check it's condition this might be a sign of leaking components on the board.
