no start

Default no start

have a 88 f150 4.9 went out to start and got a click when turned key with clutch pushed in.replaced starter relay on fender well and replaced starter for second time.hooked battery back up and truck runs but starter stays engaged for some reason.any help would be appreciated.

I think you have a universal replacement solenoid & all the POS leads should be together on one of the large posts, except the lead that feeds the starter, which should be on the other large post by itself, If you look closely, you should see an I & an S stamped next to the two small connections in the center of the solenoid. I think you have the small wire coming from the ignition connected to the wrong small terminal. You want the one marked S! Of the last two people that did this, 1 said they swapped the wire positions & were good to go. The other said they had to start over w/ a new solenoid. Very common mistake. Usually happens when someone is helping (distracting) you. You need to abraise the surfaces of the BAT terminals & posts till you see fresh, clean metal! Connections at the starter & ground at engine are just as important.
