Default no spark when at running temp???

1st time poster, long time follower
I have a 94 2wd 4.9L. It has been giving me fits over the last month.
After about a 10-15 mile drive it dies and won't restart for aprox 5 min. After the wait its like nothing ever happened. Runs flawlessly.
When it dies there is no spark. I have replaced the PCM, Ignition control module (twice), plugs, wires, and coil.
Any ideas why I randomly lose fire anytime I drive more than 10 miles???
Thanks in advance.
Sam

My 96 did this but it would not re start for hours... I changed everything you did ( except PCM) and it still did it, it ended up being the module inside of the distributor. I changed the distributor and it has run great ever since. I would recommend changing the entire distributor, because they are hard to disassemble, and a reman distributor is not much more than a new module... Just my .02

I would put my money on the TFI module, but it's not much money. Do the above tests and you should have a solid diagnosis.

I pulled the codes and it only through the code 212. I replaced the module you guys are talking about and it hasn't fixed it. I am thinking about just putting a new distributor in. Any thoughts? I was getting the vibe it might be the pick up.

212 is loss of IDM input or SPOUT grounded. Check the wires at your distributor and your spout connector. Also make sure you have the right TFI module. There is a grey one and a black one. The wrong one will give you that message. Also check the pins and wires at the ecu. You should check for a grounded or shorted wire with a DMM.

These acronyms are confusing me. I own a black and gray ICM. What is a DMM and IDM?

DMM is a digital multi meter or voltage, ohm meter. Check for continuity on the wires. IDM is ignition diagnostic module. The code is saying that its not getting feedback to the computer from the distributor module. Or it could be that the spout ( spark out ) connector is grounded and causing the IDM not to work properly. If you have the wrong TFI with the wrong computer ( ecu ) then it will cause this code also. I'm not sure which one you need. If you can't find out ill check Ford data base when I can get on.
