Default no ignition

I have an 87 F150 with 4.9. I pulled engine and trans for rebuild. Now that I have put them back in I can not get it to turn over with key. I can jump the solenoid and get it to turn over but it will not start. Also I can not hear the fuel pump run either and while I was underneath I checked the neutral safety switch. the switch read on an ohm meter but I got nothing on the test light in regards to the wiring. It seems like I must be missing something simple here. A little history, before I pulled engine/trans I would have to pull back on gear selector to get the truck to start so I went ahead and replaced the ignition switch on the column yesterday thinking that may be a problem but that did nothing to help. any advice would be welcome. thanks.

rechecked grounds and found replaced the connector that went from the battery cable to what must have been fuel pump grounds as they now work. unfortunatley leaking behind the upper plenum so I have to go take that off and determine what the leak is but at least there is pressure. still does not crank when key is turned on and now I have stopped to fix the fuel leak before continuing.

Make sure you got all your wires where they are supposed to be, if they are, your neutral safety may be misaligned. Don't forget the simple stuff like fuses too
