Default No clue..

So, my oil cooler was shot, I read an article that said to remove the housing and replace filter with a fl1a and a lower radiator hose for a 5.0 after taking it all off And putting the new stuff in, oil SPLATTERS EVERYWHERE. When the engine is started, why?! What did I do wrong

The oil filter housing was dumping coolant, so I decided to delete the oil cooler. I removed the old one, including the line. I reattached the new bottom radiator hose from radiator to the water pump, new oil fiter fl1a, now when I start the engine oil FLIES all over the engine.

Double check the mating surface between the filter and block. There should be no gasket material left from the old cooler, the rubber seal from the filter should mate with a clean, bare-metal, surface.

You should put ALL the truck's details & history (as much as you know) into your signature so it shows with each post, as this page explains:

(click this text)

Put your location (nearest city) in your profile & upload an avatar of the truck. The more pics you post (NOT in your sig) of the truck, engine, wiring, labels, & undercarriage, the more likely we can help you. Not all its details are relevant to these issues, but you don't necessarily know which ones are relevant, so just put everything in now. Without losing any info, it could be reduced to 96 5.8L XLT 4WD Xcab, which isn't much.

Post LOTS of pics of the (clean) filter area. Did you remove the cooler's O-ring from the block before screwing the filter on? Does the filter have its own O-ring? There can be only 1 O-ring. Make sure you follow the installation instructions on the filter or its box.
