Default Newbie with a Spring Question

Hi all Im new to the forum, but have had ALOT of fords.(1966 f100 4x4, 3 1979 Broncos, 85 Bronco II, 1993 Flare, 1994 150,) and now a 1996 F150 Extended cab 4X4. I want to put a pair of leveling springs in the front +2". Rough coutrys website says "direct bolt in replacement" is this true or do I need bushings, brackets, etc. to get proper alignment??? I did a search, but didnt really find a definite answer. Thanks

The most you will have to do is adjust camber. Ford actually has adjusters on the truck already, the springs will probably settle after they are installed, considering they are not a real stiff spring.

^ what he said. You will need to take it to an alignment shop, unless you know how to adjust camber.

Are you talking about the screw type tie rods?

No. That adjusts your toe in. Camber is adjusted using cams on the axle itself. You'll need to take it to an alignment shop to get it done. Its not all that expensive to have done.

Well, I got the springs installed. The alignment shop said I need oversized camber bushings. 50 bucks extra. Kinda peeved me, as Rough Countrys tech line told me they were a "direct bolt on spring" evidently if ya want it aligned, you have to buy the shims

I go to an alignment shop that specializes in Ford Twin I Beam and Traction Beam trucks. The bushings are always included in the price of the alignment.

Make sure you go to an alignment shop that knows older Ford trucks and you will probably be ok.
