hey yall, I'm looking at buying a 92 f150 and I'm new to the ford world. I know just about all there is to know about jeeps and I was wondering how different a 150 would be. Of course I plan to lift it and all that but I was wondering what kinda axles are under these trucks and if they can be swaped out for dana 44's or something like that and I'm guessing that if I wanted dual exhast its no problem to switch out. Any other advice is always welcome, prechaite it!

The axles are usually 8.8 fords. And the front ones are Dana. I'm sure if you can find a Dana 8.8 to fit the rear you can. I know nothing about Dana axles. Other than the ones I've seen have a removable third member.

The rear is a ford 8.8 and front is a Dana 44 ttb. Both great axles with lots of aftermarket support.

There's no such thing as a Dana 8.8. Lol
As for the Dana axle with removable 3rd member I think your thinking of the ford made 9".

O well maybe you shouldn't answer questions about axles then. Lol
I wasn't trying to make you look dumb just wanted to clear it up for you so you don't keep giving people wrong information.

Prechate it, I know a good bit of info about danas, I was looking to swap out the one on my jeep for a 44, glad to see its already there on the Ford with the 8.8 I don't have to do much to it to fit 35s in there do I?

Depends on the gears it has and what you plan on doing with the truck. To fit 35s, you are going to have to lift it a little.

Welcome! My Dad has a Jeep wrangler with their inline 6 and that thing is awesome. My Grandfather helped to engineer jeeps inline 6 and took great pride in working for that company. I don't have any advice to add on axles but make sure you get manual locking hubs and a manual transfer case for the 4x4. The electronic push button system is known to work intermittently and the automatic hubs seem to have a lot of problems. Best of luck
