Default New guy, internal steering column insanity, help

ok so we bought back a 91 f150 that we sold to my aunt. and we discovered that the ignition actuator rod seemed like our culprit, but upon further inspection we found that the pewter colored square pushrod thing that that the ignition acutator rod is connected to is actually what was broke. we bought the new part, and got things tore down that far...but now we cant figure out how to get that square pushrod back in there! i took out all the pins that hold the black cover right in front of wher it sits, and it now appears that the main steering rod is holding that cover on via pin in the center that we dont want to mess with. i pulled the pun directly under it and the beint pin rod that sits next to main steering rod, the ones that hold the tile-wheel adjuster arc in place, and then a bunch of springs went flying. my problem is not only that i dont know how that goes back together now, but i dont know how to get this problem fixed, or that cover off far enough to get that put in.
can you guys help me? can you find a GOOD diagram or exploded view?
please help. thanks

There is a small special tool that must be used, if you have tilt wheel.

The tool is called: Steering Pivot Pin Remover - No. 7889 from NAPA

That is all that I know about it, sorry.

I finally ran out of time & patientce and took it to a shop. Had I had the time I would have hovered over their shoulder while they fixed it. It's a b*tch! You have my condolences. It didn't take them very long, so there must be some tools or tricks to it. They weren't talkin!

Dont know if you ever got that steering column fixed but Autozone.com has a good rebuild diagram. Just log in, input your vehicle, click on repair info, repair guides, then ignition cylinder lock.
