Question new clutch problem

I have a 87 F150 4.9L with NP435 trans. The clutch started slipping here a while back and I started a replacement on it. The truck had a 11" clutch, but I decided to step down to a 10" because I don't pull anything at all with it and due to being short on money. We have also replaced the master and slave cylinders.

Here's the problem. The truck won't go into gear. Grinds on attempting 1st or Rev, but doesn't for 2-4. But won't go into gear. Initially we hadn't replaced the master or slave and it would grind on all gears. We replaced them and now it only grinds in the one's mentioned above. The only thing we have left to think is that we somehow got the clutch plate on backwards, but we don't think that we did.

Any suggestions, recommendations or ideas???

If the disk is in backwards, the reverse offset might keep the trans from not spinning, and if the slave is not an internal, remove it and place it higher than the master so any air will rise, dont forget to open the bleeder and point the bleeder straight up.

Have bled it many times already, but not this way. Will try it before pulling the trans again.
