New 0 to 60 Time
Trucks a 95 with the 302 and some fresh 4.10's running 30" tires. 12.50 seconds, seems like it was 15 or 16 before the swap.
Driven mainly interstate and hoping the new 4.10's up the mpg a bit, had 3.31's with an auto. Just wasn't the right mix for decent mpg. Been getting 13.5 mpg |
congrats on the new time! I may be wrong here but on the interstate the 410's will raise your RPMS which may decrease mileage instead of increase it. I know I get 20+ with my 300 and 3.08 gears.

The thing about the 302 is it makes more power in higher rpms then a 300. So it's less efficient at lower rpms. Although something like 3.55s would've been a better choice if done purely for mpg. His city mileage probably will go up and interstate will probably stay close to the same, maybe down a little bit. But worth the power gain. It's hard to explain, but higher rpms doesn't automatically mean worse mpg. There a sweet spot that needs to be hit, where that is, he k I don't know lol. |

How the heck is your times so slow. I mean congested on the gain, but my 351 auto ext cab 4x4 with a tool box full of tools and both tanks full will do 0-60 at 9.1 seconds. Low on gas is 8.6 seconds 0-60. I have 3.55 gears, but very soon moving to 4.10s and 31s. For a couple of weeks probably 4.10s on the 235/75/15 tires I have now. That will be interesting lol. We also have a 4.9, now thats slow. I have a high lift very low duration cam with tight lobe centers built for torque(the302). Your 351 is a way better choice for a go fast truck motor. There's just no substitute for more displacement in these pushrod motors. |

My 300 with 3.08's and a 5 speed does about 14-16 seconds for a 0 to 60 run. I have a weak fuel pump in mine too.
Also I forgot he was running a 302. I am so use to talking about my 300 lol. My 89 has a 302 with a 5 speed, that baby gets up and scoots! I will clock what it gets next time I am home from college. |
