Need troubleshooting help/ direction
These may have nothing to do with each other. However. I have an aftermarket radio. It's maybe 4-5 years old. At least for the last year it just goes dead and then comes right back on. I have pulled it out and jiggled around the wiring harness to see if it might be a problem. No dice. The truck itself after me fixing a lot of neglected items has been running fine.
Now over the last couple of days I have been in the process of changing my door mirrors from manual to power. I spliced in to the hot that supples the power lock and window switch and used the door grounding point. It is probably a fluke as I could not see this as having an effect.
I know that troubleshooting from a remote location is difficult. I am an electrician by trade, just not on automotive. Adding things seems straightforward but when it comes to finding problems without schematics or diagrams I am at a loss.
Does anyone have any help for a DIYer?

Doors and radio are on different circuits so I don't see that having an affect on the radio - but actually I don't think you said one way or the other what happened when you wired up the mirrors (mirrors should have their own fuse by the way, I think they should max at 10 amps or much less and the windows are usually on a 20 amp circuit breaker)
I'd run a new, fused, dedicated power wire to the radio and see what happens. Could be a short inside the radio too.
