Need some help with my radio problem!
So yesterday my amp shorted out and is bad now. So when i was disconnecting it i went inside for a bit cause of the heat and when i came back out my radio would not work. Now after it was not working the power wire touched the metal radio casing when i was taking the radio out. I put my friends extra radio in my truck for now. But i got the idea of see whats going on with my radio so i hooked it up to a old computer power supple and still nothing. When i was messing with it the ground wire came loose and touched the metal radio casing and the radio turned on!? I was like wtf.
So my question is, is my radio fried or is there just a ground wire problem?

if it works when you add the ground to the case then I would say it is just an internal ground problem. or check if you fried the fuse on the radio. or pull the radio apart and see if there is a blown ground

Yup sounds like the ground on the connector fried, so instead you may be able to sauder a ground wire to the case of the head unit, but it may not work for long depending on how good its grounded on the case to the unit.
I'm having the same issue tho my truck has issues way more serious than my radio right now lol.I couldn't help but throw my radio issue along in with this post.Mines been not working for quite some time.why? fuse? bad connector?

Yup check the fuse if its good, if the fuse is fine, check the harness, if the harness is fine check the radio ( Most after market radios have a fuse on the back), If thats fine, check you have it turned ON
If you ran a new ground, check it works too. If you used the stock one, try and trace down where it leads too if you have other electrical problems.
