Default Need some 4x4 help

Hey yall new to posting but long time reader but I’ll get right to it I have this 1993 f150 and the 4x4 won’t work. So here’s what I’ve done so far, started simple checked fuses/relays all good, then onto the switch it turns on and when pressed I can hear the lil box behind the kick panel click once so all good right? then I checked the lil box itself unplugged both connections and tested, had roughly one blink a second (standard I believe) ok so next I checked wiring followed it from the shift motor connection everything seem fine until where another connection is by the front driveshaft it was unplugged and dirty as hell so I took that itself apart and cleaned it plugged it in and to my surprise it went into 4wd well for about 30 feet then it would disengage and not engage again on a whim I replaced the actual shift motor and still nothing but now the switch itself has no lights when clicked but will still click once when pressed (the box in kick pannel clicks) but no power to anything still. When the truck was bought I clicked the 4wd and seemed to engage but obviously wasn’t. When I started my dig into this problem I did notice a couple things A that unplugged connector was pulled out and the Christmas tree connection was pulled from its mount. B that again behind the kick panel there was 2 more pulled. Seems the previous owner knew the 4wd was messed up, attempted to fix but couldn’t. Hence why I think he unplugged the connection by the drive shaft so it again seemed like 4wd was working. Anyone have any ideas? I also pulled the motor again and had a buddy try to engage but again nothing. My next check is going to ensure power is actually going to the motor itself. But if there’s no power what would be broken at that point? Starting to doubt my mechanic skills lol and I would deeply appreciate any help anyone can offer.

Also I just noticed that the shift motor connection center pin seems to have been pushed in a little by a flat head? The pin is pushed in a little and minorly split, the shaft itself is ok tho. Could it be that simple?

Welcome to the site!

Suggest to get / find a wiring diagram, then work through the connectors and such as to where the signal may be getting lost or dropped.
