Default In need of motor

I have a 89 F150 4.9/300 I6
Im looking to buy any motor and trans combo that would fit without any MODS in my 89.

Exactly what motor GAS and or Diesel will fit? Any links and or post would help. Price rang no more than $1000 for combo.

Best to stay with the 300 6 cylinder and whatever transmission it has in it, or you will get into doing mods.

What transmission does it have in it? What is the status(condition) of the current engine and transmission?

The only things that will fit WITHOUT ANY MODS are the originals, or direct-replacements. Changing the trans model usually requires changing a frame crossmember & the driveshafts, at a minimum. Changing from the I6 to any other gas engine (V8) requires changing the radiator, frame perches, exhaust, wiring harnesses, springs... Changing from any gas to any diesel requires... LOTS of mods.

And you'd be lucky to stay under $1K just putting in a good used 4.9L. Forget a reman at that price, or any bigger engine, or any different engine/trans.

Same question as above - why are you asking?
