Need more power
Hey guys I have a 1994 F150 extended cab with a 5.0/302.
I currently have headers, high flow cats, straight pipes, k&n filter, throttle body spacer and msd ready to run distributor.
I want to put down more power but would like it to be reliable. I have the factory rear end with 3.55 gears with an AOD transmission. I would like to see what people have done in terms of heads and cams. I would like an extra 50-100hp without stroking it and I need to be able to pass emissions. I love this truck and it is my daily car and it even hauls huge loads (eg. 2 post lift weighing about 1 tonne)
Also how hard is it to change the suspension so it is capable of being an F250.
Thanks,
Any help would be appreciated.

im not to fimilar with the Maf conversions but i think you get more power im looking in to that myself but not sure i can do it to my L6
the suspention isnt that hard you need to change the front coil towers coils and chocks then the rear spring hangers and springs i think thats about it all the frames are basicly the same

Aluminum hi po heads and a healthier camshaft will probably get you that extra 50+ without pulling the engine. However, if I were you, I'd just buy a block and put it on an engine stand and take my time to research parts and build it to perfection and drop it in one weekend in the future.
Yeah head's and cam are probably the most I will do, but I am not sure what is possible to do while still being able to pass emissions.
Can I just put a set of aluminum heads, different cam and buy a chip to tune it so it is emission friendly?
I love this truck I think Ford did a really good job with it then screwed everything up going the triton path with aluminum parts.

Regarding camshafts, I would start out by researching the Ford Motorsport camshafts, not necessarily to buy, but to get an idea on what specs will pass emissions and what specs won't pass emissions. If it were me, I'd aim for a good healthy RV/Towing camshaft. Those seem to be closer to the emissions goal and, you still have towing/pulling power with your truck. Also, email some of the camshaft manufacturers directly to see what they have to say about emissions. Their sites should have some emissions info listed.
Regarding heads: You have several choices, most manufactures of aluminium heads have a CARB number for smog inspection. Then there is the GT-40 heads that are a stock Ford head. Then you could just have the current heads worked over. I do not have the smog requiremnt so unsure of how they would work with that, but I have decided on a set from here http://www.hunterstyle.com/thumper/ I have not got them installed as I am currently not near my truck, but they should make great improvement for me (can't do aluminium heads do to race rules). Hope this gives some ideas.
Also don't forget about your intake. With new heads and cam it will be your restriction. I am planning on a ported stock lower from Tmoss. http://tmossporting.0catch.com/
