Post need help! thought it was maf

i have a 95 f150 5.0 4x4. had it for about a year and at first i thought i was having transmission problems. most of the time it happens when taking off from a dead stop between 2nd and 3rd it will simply feel like there's no gas getting to the engine, it will stop accelerating, and once in a while there'll be a popping sound. the only way to remedie the situation is to stomp on the gas pedal at wich it will downshift. i took it to two different tranny shop both said my transmission was in great shape internally. one shop rebuilt my rear diff. the other installed a new speed sensor. by accident i forgot to hook the wires up to my maf sensor after working on my truck truck and it fixed my problem. so i checked; hooked them up same origanal problem. after leaving them off for a couple months i noticed without my maf my mpg was suffering and most of the time during start up my truck would idle irratic. got some money together and bought a new maf hooked it up, same damn origanal problem. can somebody please tell me what works in conjunction with the maf that's making my truck do this? i thought i isolated the problem by unhooking the maf.

It sounds like you have a faulty MAP sensor. I'm pretty sure these trucks have MAP sensors on them, but I'm not positive. We'll see what everyone else thinks about it.

Running around for so long w/ it unpluged, the computer probably locked out the sensor input. substituting a fixed signal amount. It could care less that you replaced it, for 40-80 completed warm up cycles (holding a grudge). However, If you disconnect the battery for 5 minutes minimum, you will clear the KAM (Kept Adaptive Memory) & all will be forgiven, as the KAM rebuilds using all sensor input.

Error code scans will flush it out. Could be the MAP as mentioned, but an e/c/s could save you from buying unneeded parts. Don't need CEL light on to have codes stored.https://www.f150forum.com/f10/how-re...es-obdi-10907/ or http://www.handsontools.com/Equus-In...ol_p_5574.html
