Question Need Help Please

Ok, my truck just died suddenly driving down the road. After replacing the coil, having the IGM checked i found the problem to to be in the distributer. So i replaced it, marked the location of the old one, and the rotor, installed the new one. It will barely run and is waaaay off time. I thought i put everything back properly but apparently i made a mistake somewhere.

How do i get it back in time? It will run, but just barely. I cant even get the timing mark visable, seems to be 189* off.

Any ideas?????????

im not sure what year youre working or anything, but if you didnt pull the spout plug when you went to reset your time it could be fighting with that and you'll never be able to get it set. i'd make sure you pulled that, then try again. if that doesnt work. pull the dist out and try again. making sure you have the #1 cylinder lined up for TDC. and i'd make sure that your timing marks are clean and well marked. and your using the correct one.

Here is a quick check on the timing, pull no 1 plug bump engine over till that one is tdc on the compression stroke and then check to see if the dist is pointed at no 1 plug if not you will have to remove and reinstall dist.

I have the TFI ignition.

I got the #1 cyl to tdc, took out the dist and positioned the rotor towards the #1 plug, re-installed the dist, and it STILL wont run.

Im at a loss here and cant seem to figure this out. Anyone have any ideas please????

I need this running asap for work.

Pull #1 plug, put your finger over plug hole, have someone turn the engine over till you feel pressure build and then check to see that it's TDC then adjust dist to #1 plug.
