Hi guys, i just fitted a 7.3L IDI & E4OD in my 1989 F 150, im after a Optishift OS1to run my E4OD, are these controllers avalible? Is this the best option?
I tried to use the standard powertrain module and have been unsuccessful in getting the E4OD to even work. I can manually select 1&2, but when in drive will not change at all? I've had the E4OD rebuilt & upgraded by a reputable Trans shop that has built E4OD's before. I got the set up imported, and was out of a 1994 F350 (114000 miles) and have the harness up to the firewall, I've followed wiring diagrams, and all power and grounds are correctly connected, and all sensors on the motor are connected and checked for functionality. I haven't connected a speed sensor to the powertrain module, will this stop the E4OD from working? Now my spedo cable has a sensor but I have no harness from the sensor to the powertrain module.
Could this be my issue?
Or will the Optishift be the way to go? I understand they fabricate a full harness for their controller. Has anyone used/familiar with the Optishift OS1? Any help appreciated.
Regards ALS 150.

I don't know about the Optishift OS1 but I do know that the computer that controls your E4OD needs to see a VSS. I love the idea of the 7.3 in a F-150. Good Job!

Thanks for that, I'm trying to track down a workshop manual for a 1994 IDI F350, I've got some of the wiring diagrams, but not enough info to be happy. I just want to sort this out ASAP as I'm late to depart on my next trip. So the sooner I can work this out the better. Thanks again about the VSS.

I tried the VSS and still no luck, I think I'll have to try to obtain a Optishift as it's a stand alone system, and has all the harness to run a system.
Thanks again for the help.

Hi guys I have just obtained an Optishift controller & harness. Should be shipped to me by the end of the week.
The Optishift system only needs the TPS & VSS to run a stand alone system.
I'll keep you all posted on how this works out for me.

Hi guys the Opti**** controller is worth it's weight in gold. It has solved all my problems, so anyone with PCM issues I highly recommend this stand alone system. Only needed to solder 7 wires and install an overdrive indicator light and switch, too easy.
Well I'm over the moon my 7.3l IDI turbo conversion is a total success. Now to take the truck for it's exhaust and wheel alignment and away I go for my next trip.
