Default Need help ASAP! (Fuel problem)

I have an 88ford f150 with an EFI 302, I was running low on gas and pulle up at a Gas station and it died at the pump but I didn't think it was that low and just shrugged it off and filled it up, then it wouldn't start and smoke came out from under the hood so I checked it and my silinoid burned up, so I jumped the silinoid with some pliers and drive it down the road to the autozone and replaced the silinoid. It started right up and made it a few blocks and started cutting out and making a popping sound when I tried to give it gas. I replaced the fuel filter and the high pressure pump and it drove a few blocks again until it did then I took it to my shop and when I got it to start smoke came out from under the dash?!?!?

Sounds like a big time electrical problem. I would not drive it until its solved. My positive cable arced on my motor mounts and almost welded to it. It had trouble running and seamed like it was a fuel problem but wasn't. Bought a longer cable and moved it closer to the firewall.

pull codes... theres a failsafe built into the ecu. i know this is a efi however it sounds like the timing might have slipped a bit? misfiring a bit to soon or so thats the pop you are hearing possibly?

the smoke issue is deff an electrical problem. if it smelt like burning plastic that is.

check the battery wires for chaifing and such. and fues panel as well could be a possiblilty of the smoke issue?

where did the smoke come out from under the dash? Near the middle or lower side? Could be the ignition switch? I don't remember if the trucks had it, but I know there was a huge recall for ignition switches in the 90's on most ford products. (CRAP the 90's!!!man I'm getting old!!!)

OK start with problem number 1. You essentially had a fire in your engine that destroyed a heavy duty relay and instead of wondering why you just bypassed it. Those relays don't just burn. You either have a short it high resistance. Check your wiring. Especially your high power wires. A bad ground is the most common cause for burning a relay.

I replaced the in tank pump the high pressure pump and the fuel filter and now i don't even hear the fuel pumps kicking on to pressure up? The smoke came up over threw the defrost vents an under the steering column, I'll check the wires coming off the battery and the relay and see if there's anything wrong there

Why don't you test for power before replacing more parts. Relays are really easy to test. You may have just blown a fuse or melted a wire.
