Default Need help!!!

today i was driving on the road to work after it rained really bad and drove through a decently sized puddle a little faster then i wanted to be. after i hit the water my truck died. i have a 1990 F150 4x4 XLT lariat. its not hydrolocked but wont start. upon inspection i noticed no water in intake. it sounds like its either not getting spark or not getting fuel. when i turn it over it sounds like it wants to fire but its not. im thinking it could be a short somewhere. a friend of mine told me to check my MAF sensor.

::side note:: the guy i bought this from had installed and auxillary on/off switch for my fuel pump, as well as a push button start under my dash. just throwing it out there.

any help would be greatly appreciated!

p.s. does this model year truck have the infamous 2-peice spark plugs?

Wht motor? Sounds to me like you got your distributor wet and it needs to dry out. This happens to alot of my buddies while were out mudding. Thy hit the hole too fast, it soaks the distributor and truck dies for awhile..tries to start but wont. I always carry a can of wd40 with me to spray it off whn this happens as wd40 dries water right up.

Your truck dont have mass air, unless it was converted, uses reg plugs, never heard of 2 pc plugs, and what bc said, dry electrical stuff off.

Pull the dist cap and see if there is any moisture, any moisture will cause the spark to stray or extinguish.

Brake clean would probably be better for drying water because wd40 is water based.
