Default need help

I bought this truck last year it. it is a 1990 f150 with the 302 in it. I blew the engine up in june. After reading alot into it i decided to put the 351w into the truck. i got it most of the way back together and took it to a shop for them to set the timming and adjust the transimtion and so on. During this whole time i put a 38 gallon tank out of a bronco so that i could have more fuel capacity. Here is the problem the engine straves for fuel when i give it about half throttle. but at a steady throttle it dose fine. im thinking if i replace the fuel pump that should fix it. but i was told i needed to go back to a smaler tank. so before i spend the money on a fuel pump dose that sound like the problem. They told me it could also be a problem in the engine. it a brand new jasper engine. im to the point of wanting to sell the stupid thing because nobody will work on it sorry for the long post and appreciate all the help

more input needed - when fuel filter was replaced? did you ckeck fuel pressure? what kind fuel sending unit do you have in your 38 gallon tank? one that came with it or your old one from a smaller tank?

I think that the only things left to check are fuel pump and fuel pressure regulator. Can you do a fuel pressure test?

i ran the fuel pressure test and at idle i am running 35 psi. I was messing with it and in park it can open up and run fine with no bogging issues but as soon as there is a load on it, it bogs down.
