Default need help!!

friend has a 92 flair side 302 manual. He tries to start it and it starts and it has rough idle and knocks little bit. will die if it doesnt warm up for 20 minutes. some times it wont even start . was thinking maybe its a egr valve but wondering if it was something else. i have checked all his vacum lines etc. all good. What could it be any ideas? thanks

i don't think the egr system could cause an engine to knock. do a compression test and pull codes if any and go from there.

there's a sticky top of this section how to get your codes. All you need is a small wire to jump to points, turn truck to run, and watch the Service Engine Soon light blink the coded.
