Question Need Advice...

So i got a 1994 F150, Supercab, 5.0, Auto with shift kit, short bed, 4x4. Right now im getting 17 or 18 on the highway, and anywhere from 10-15 in the city, depends on how i drive it. its got 31x10.5x15 all terrain on it, and a heavy duty steel bumper. Dad is saying for me to sell the truck, but i want to keep it, too many good memories in it. I start college in Decemeber. Ok so i want some tips on how to improve my gas mileage so i can keep the truck. I take alot of road trips with it and its not doing bad as everyone thinks. I put $18 in it, and thats a week worth of driving to and from school. Would putting a exhaust, intake, highway tires, and better heads on it help it?

ok so for $18 bucks at $3.55 a gallon that comes to right about 5 gallons of gas, you can go about 25 min of driving a day(roughly20miles) for 5 days? that is 100 miles a week on 5 gallons of gas which comes out to be 20 miles per gallon you wouldnt beable to get 20mpg out of a ford going down hill with the wind to your back coasting in neutral, lol
but if by chance you are, and you still want better, on your next trip out stop at honest charlies used cars and trade your truck for that nice "one owner" neon he has on the lot
