Default need advice

I have a 1990 f150 4x4 im going cange my oil pan gasket should i go ahead & change my oil pump would that be wise?

If hi mileage, wouldnt hurt, they are only about $35 or so for a Melling. You dont need the pickup, just clean it.

Default oil pan

I did just that . the original pump had 163,000. didnt have a problem . what
I did not do properly was to prime the pump . this may have caused low oil at starting which may have caused damage so I' m told . My truck still runs but I am getting occasional noise .

Before I put a new pump in I take it apart clean it good and grease the inside of the pump.
