Need Advice
Last night I went to leave in my 93 F150 and when I went to put it in reverse it acted stuck. I put a lil more presure and the gear stick popped now it wont change out of park (or I couldnt get it to) put the shifter will move all the way down below low gear. Am I looking at a new column or something a lil simpler? The truck is already on its last leg and not wanting to spend money on it. Any help would be appreciated.
Probably something wrong with the shifter cable. Follow it up out of the floor and see if everything is still attached properly.
Look underneath where it goes to the trans and see if there's an issue down there.

You'll probably find the problem to be under the dash on top of the steering column. Might be as simple as a couple of screws sheared off. If the problem is there you'll probably have to drop the steering column, not hard to do except for removing same plastic cowling without breaking it especially in cold weather. Check as Chris suggests first.
Can anyone help me. My truck is cutting out on me. It will crank and run fine. But when you go done the road and give it some gas it just quits then catches back up. Then does it again. I have replaced the plugs, wires, and coil. It still does it. Does anyone have any advice.

Back to the shifter problem - these are pics of a 95 tilt column. Near the top (closest to the firewall) you will see a bracket held on by 2 Torx screws - you can see 1 of them in the pic. The end of the shifter cable snaps onto that and that's what moves to move the cable when you move the lever. Sometimes those 2 torx screws come undone or break so that would be a problem. Or the shifter cable comes off it, also a problem.
Just down from that you will see a bigger bracket which bolts the column in place (the rusty one). That bracket also curls up to hold the cable housing in place, which is another place to look for a problem.
If you have to actually change the cable, those are the 2 attachment points inside the cab. The other end will be hooked to the trans roughly the same way.
