Hi, My 1996 5.0 4X4 has been sitting for about 9 months so I want to drain both gas tanks. I've been looking for advice but can't seem to find something that works. Looking for help on the right way to do this. If someone has a link to a previous thread or a youtube I'd appreciate it.
Get a 6 foot length of fuel rated hose, with an outside diameter just smaller than a gas pump nozzle.
Slide the hose in the tank and set up a siphon.
You can buy cheap siphon bulbs to get the siphon started. I used pulmonary suction. Be prepared to pull the hose out of the tank to stop the flow when needed.
I think mine is 5/8" outside diameter hose.
Edit: My truck is an '88. On a '96, there may be an obstruction to prevent the siphon hose from going in.
If so, you may have to remove the filler neck and outer hose, and siphon from the tank itself, instead of through the filler neck.
2nd Edit: After a brief online search, I'm pretty sure our filler necks are the same. A siphon hose should work, through the filler neck.
Pictures of filler neck and hose.

Awesome, thanks. I wasn't sure if a siphon would work, so good to know. Much appreciated
I have used these fluid transfer pumps from Harbor Freight. If there is a theft device in the tank spout, I have connected these at the fuel filter output. It's quick and won't leave a bad taste in your mouth....They also work great for differential oil changes.
