Question Is MSD worth it? is there something better?

I want to hear everyone's thoughts on aftermarket ignition systems for our FI trucks.

Does anyone know if the MSD units are programmable?

Any other MSD experiences please?

I just had an MSD coil start sputtering under a load and giving out badly at high rpm.. It was a little over a year old. Honestly, unless the engine is pretty modified an aftermarket coil really isn't going to make a difference.

My MSD experience was a good one, but I went from 10+ old ignition parts (ignition unit and distributor) to brand new 6AL and distributor on my Bronco. Between that and a fresh Holley 600cfm 4bbl, my Bronco went being a sluggish 8mpg truck to being a peppy 13mpg truck. Mid-range was most impressive, but I think there was an improvement under cruising power.

I do not know how the components would have fared against new OEM stuff, but I believe the multiple spark at lower rpm helped.
