Default Mileage display

Hi there!
Does anyone know if it is possible to repair the mileage display and how to do it? Remove something, use a heat gun to separate something else, clean with a rug the ink… I don’t know… where I live, doesn’t exist f150 junkyards…

thanks for the answers guys

That is a result of the silicone oil in the needle mechanism leaking down onto the odometer display. It gets between the LCD layers. Replacing only the display is not difficult, but it is tedious. Finding a replacement display is difficult because they were never sold separately. You'll have to get a speedometer or instrument cluster, and transfer either the LCD (if you want to keep the truck's original mileage) or the PSOM.

This shows how the PSOM comes apart:

This page describes how the PSOM works, and how to test it so the needle is reset (during the prove-out process):

If you can't find a PSOM locally, check ebay, or I have several:

Thanks Steve83,

What you say makes a lot of sense. I'll check it out on eBay. I take advantage of consulting you the following: is it possible if I have the cluster without RPM, change it for a cluster that does have RPM? (image below)
If this is possible, can I also keep the original mileage?

Thanks again

You can definitely swap to a cluster with tachometer, and it plugs right in as if the factory put it in, but you will still need to swap the PSOM to keep mileage.

Yes, the tachometer instrument cluster is an easy swap, but you must match your truck's year range with the tachometer cluster's year. Put all your truck's details into your signature so we can review them with each reply:

The links in my previous post show how easy it is to open the clusters & swap your truck's original PSOM into the tach cluster.
