metal handle broke

I had this happen on my driver side, replaced the handle and noticed the sheet metal that the lever mechanism was on was tearing.. a couple of flat lock washers around the bolt fixed that right up. Now I don't have to pull up nearly as much on the handle and haven't broken one since.

Unlike before, where I broke 3 in a span of a day, lol.
This might be my problem bc when I had the handle it broke bc I had to pull it so high to open

I see quite a few examples of why you should open your doors gently. The skins tend to tear and the.cables stretch. (if applicable)
