Default Radiator Upgrade and Fan Shrouds

I truly think that the previous owner of my truck put more than likely the cheapest new radiator they could find on it.

Reason why I say this is because it's a V8 with A/C and it has a 1 core radiator and on the hotter summer days, I see the temperature needle creeping a bit higher than what I'm comfortable with seeing.

Also seems to be rather inadequate for the application also from a parts lookup perspective, so that's where my thoughts are coming from. Most parts lookup list the 2 core for the application.

So, during this upcoming winter, I am going to replace my thin 1 core radiator with more than likely a 2 core radiator.

Are there different fan shrouds based on the thickness of the radiator? I would imagine that the thicker the radiator, the more shallow the depth of the fan shroud would be.

I'm thinking I can get away with a 2 core radiator because that's probably what it was factory, but may need a different (and possibly hard to find) shroud for a 3 core radiator.

Is there such a thing as a 3 core radiator fan shroud? If so, what does it come on? The F250s?

Any thoughts or experiences on this?

I just did my 4.9. Usually the shroud is the same, but not for my 4.9.

I think the V8s would be more likely to use the same shroud for either, but you better check.

How many rows did you upgrade to? It looks like a 2 row from what I see on your pic. How is it working out for you?

Replace it with HD cooling rad for F250 at parts store. When mine went out thats, one I got and it was 2x size the stock one and was aluminum.

Lol, that was the spare. It only survived the test drive and has been replaced. Four more to go.

My 94 5.0 has a 1 row and ac. It runs about 10-15 degrees hotter than my 4.9, but it runs the same temp loaded or not. Once I get around to installing the 185 t-stat that I bought 6 months ago, it should be good to go.
